The Bach has been in our family since 1982, when our Dad purchased the land and built the sleep-out at the back of the property. Some years later, he added the house to the front of the section. Dad was a keen lake, boat and fisherman. He followed rugby, soccer (Manchester United), and had a range of entrepreneurial and outdoor hobbies, including farming.
His main focus, however, was his work: he practiced law for all of his adult life. Dad’s place of retreat was here, in Omori. But this bach is also a place that he generously and regularly shared with others to use for their holidays and getaways. Many friends and family have fond memories of their time here. Sadly, we lost Dad in March 2018, after a short but feisty and courageous battle with lymphoma*. We have kept this property because of what it meant to Dad, and to us.

For Dad, this bach was a place of quiet contemplation, but also a place to celebrate time with family and friends. Dad was low-key, understated, simple, but warm, generous and funny. We hope you feel those qualities here. For us, this Bach is where we come together and where we remember Dad most powerfully. A place to reflect, relax, to have fun, and to create new memories together. We hope that our visitors will also find those moments of calm and connectedness here.

In late 2019, we named the Bach "Poppa's Place" in memory of our Dad and opened it to travellers from around the world to enjoy. Find out more about Poppa's Place and what to do in the area on this website. For any questions, please contact us.
